Medieval Herzegovina
Herzegovina is known as a southernmost region of the country, but also it is known as a place where history was created. The name of it comes from a title Herzog, or Duke, so basically this is a duke-land. The Duke, or Herceg Stjepan Kosača, was the most powerfull nobleman of the Kingdom of Bosnia, who supported the rullers, or he went the other way and proclamed independancy of his lands. Those shifts affected the Kingdom in a great meassure, they also influenced on some future events and changed the face of this region forever.
We will visit Mostar that is biggest city in Herzegovina and enjoy the breathtaking view over the Old Bridge on Neretva river. For afternoon hours we will visit small town Blagaj that tells story of Medieval times, Ottoman times, but is hospitable to modern tourists.
For the best view on Neretva river we will climb high to the tower of old medieval town Počitelj, and see the core of Duke’s land.
This is Mediterranean experience, wrapped in vineyards, old tales and high towers.
