Sarajevo cemeteries

Take this unusual and unique journey through 550 years of history of the city of Sarajevo, visiting places that you will rarely find in touristic handbooks.

Cemeteries in every city are places of peace, peace, but also of something mystical, interesting, incomprehensible. People who used to live and who were buried in Sarajevo left a lot of interesting stories and legends that you will remember for the rest of your life. We will visit the old cemetery Alifakovac and the Old Jewish cemetery, both protected by the state as the cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina, then the memorial cemetery Kovači and the grave of the first president of independent state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after that we will visit the Orthodox cemetery St. Mark where members of Young of Bosnia organization were buried, then we walk to the Catholic Cemetery St. Joseph and visit the grave of one of the most important poets of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Silvija Strahimir Kovačević.

The tour ends with a visit to the war cemetery from the time of the siege of Sarajevo 92-95 which was erected on the auxiliary ground of the Koševo Olympic Stadium and the multi-conductive cemetery Lav where we listen to the sad story about Sarajevo’s Romeo and Juliet.
