Muslim heritage of B&H

This is a great opportunity to learn more about tradition and life of Bosnian Muslim population that lives here in the heart of Europe for over 500 years. Monuments, buildings, sites from Ottoman empire times, mixed with modern buildings and architecture makes Sarajevo a perfect destination to explore and discover.

Tour starts at Baščaršija Square, an old Ottoman part of Sarajevo, founded in 15th. century. We learn about the arrival of the Muslim religion to these areas, and how it became the biggest religion in Bosnia. After we visit Alifakovac cemetery, the oldest Muslim cemetery in Sarajevo. Also, we will see beautiful Gazi Husrev Bey Mosque in the center of the old town, this includes entrance to the mosque to get a detailed description of the Mosque’s architecture. Later we shell visit Medresa Muslim school located in the old town, learn about the educational system of old times and after that, we will visit Gazi Husrev Bey Library, founded in the 1573 year, first Muslim library in our country. Muslim tourists will have an opportunity to have a prayer during the tour. Tour ends with a coffee break in one of the local restaurants where we learn about gastronomy of local Muslim population.
